Operation Quilts Recipients

On this page we will highlight some of the soldiers who received our quilts and
some of the letters and pictures we received back.
As of April 27, 2003, 51 quilts have been sent.

Sgt. Michael Feyh

Medic, 160th Special Ops Aviation Regiment (SOAR), stationed in Fort Campbell, KY, currently serving with the US Army in Afghanistan. (http://www.campbell.army.mil/160soar.htm )

After the 9/11 tragedy, Michael gave up his job as a firefighter and enlisted in the US Army because he felt the call to help with the fight against terrorism. His sister, Elizabeth Kirkegaard of Ventura, California, Karen Miner's niece, requested that a quilt be sent to him.

Ensign Cynthia Gutierrez

Communications Specialist, US Navy, assigned to the USS Saipan, serving in the Persian Gulf.

Cynthia graduated from South Tahoe High School and from Oregon State University. Her parents, Jose and Graciela, live on the South Shore. Karen Miner requested that she receive a quilt as Cynthia was a good friend of Sarah, Karen's daughter. Read the full story in the Tahoe Daily Tribune.
